Greater San Gabriel Valley (GSGV) Chapter

Chapter Officers - Meeting Location

Welcome to the Greater San Gabriel Chapter of CREIA

San Gabriel Valley runs along the base of the San Gabriel Mountains from Pasadena to San Dimas. The Valley is probably most famous for the annual Tournament of Roses Parade and Rose Bowl Game. Yet, the Valley is also home to the world-renowned California Institute of Technology which manages the Jet Propulsion Laboratory and to the world famous cancer research hospital, The City of Hope.

Located just a short 15 to 20 miles from downtown Los Angeles, conveniently reachable via the Gold Line light rail system, along with the 210, 110 and 710 freeways. The Valley's sites include a blend of tree-lined streets, distinctive neighborhoods, historic buildings and a vibrant cultural scene with ethnic shops and restaurants. With CREIA's presence in the Valley since 1992, the consumer has benefited from more standard home inspections being performed and a pool of more technically educated inspectors being available to them.

We can thank our Chapter President Dean Price for having started the CREIA and ASHI joint chapter in 1992. Pior to that time there were only a Los Angeles Chapter and a newly created San Fernando Chapter serving the greater Los Angeles area. The Los Angeles Chapter had tried to accommodate the West Los Angeles inspectors and San Gabriel Inspectors by having their monthly meetings at the Trax Restaurant on Sunset and later at the Firehouse 28 restaurant in downtown Los Angeles. Centralizing the meeting place just did not serve the inspectors due to traffic and parking problems and it was decided that the Los Angeles Chapter would split thus creating a West Los Angeles Chapter and the Greater San Gabriel Valley Chapter.

Dean Price, our founder, established this seventh chapter in 1992. Dean Price had a Vision. His Vision was to have a place for home inspectors to meet for education and all guests would be welcomed and included in the group. From the four members who attended the first meetings at Fanara's Italian Restaurant, the chapter has grown to over 50 members. We have changed restaurants numerous times to provide space for our growing membership. Dean Price's Vision continues to this day and we honor him with the Title of CREIA and ASHI Chapter President Emeritus.
